Dec. 3--An ambulance en route to pick up a patient collided with a car at a northwest Oklahoma City intersection Tuesday, authorities said.

The ambulance driver was going west on NW 122 about 2 p.m. with lights and sirens on when it hit a car at Portland Avenue, said Lara O'Leary, spokeswoman for Emergency Medical Services Authority.

O'Leary said drivers need to remember to watch out for emergency vehicles responding to calls.

The 41-year-old ambulance driver suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital, O'Leary said. The other driver was not seriously hurt, police said. The ambulance did not have a patient on board at the time of the collision, she said.

Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight said officers are investigating the traffic accident.
