The Denver Health Paramedic Division, sole provider of 911 advanced life support services for the City and County of Denver, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of

Chief Paramedic

The pre-hospital services at Denver Health are part of the academic Level I Trauma Center in Denver's public safety net system.  This busy 911 EMS system offers the opportunity to be involved in a dynamic integrated health system in a beautiful and energetic western city.  The Chief Paramedic plays a key role in a trauma center with one of the best survival rates in the nation.

Denver Health promotes innovation, and is a national leader in the use of "Lean” principles in healthcare.  The Paramedic Division is a key focus for this project.

General Statement of Class Duties:
The Chief Paramedic organizes and directs the activities of the Denver Health Paramedic Division, the 911 EMS service for the City and County of Denver.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
The Chief Paramedic reports to the Medical Director of the Paramedic Division.  The Chief Paramedic oversees four Assistant Chiefs who manage and coordinate the administrative, operational, communications, and training activities of the Paramedic Division.

Salary Range:    $76,918 min, $99,986 mid, $123,074 max, based on relative experience
FLSA Code:      Exempt

Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in a business or healthcare curriculum from an accredited college or
university.

Experience Requirement:
Two years of supervisory experience in an advanced life support EMS service.

Education/Experience Equivalency:
Two years of the appropriate type and level of experience will serve as an equivalency to one
year of education. (For example, if a Baccalaureate Degree is required, eight years of relevant
experience can be substituted.)

Licensure and/or Certification:
Possession of a current Colorado Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P)
Certificate issued by the State of Colorado, and a valid Colorado Class "R" Driver's License at the
time of appointment. All certifications and licenses must be kept current as a condition of
continued employment.
